Flat Plan of DPS for magazine
This is a flat plan of my dps for my own magazine that I will be creating. This means that this is potentially how i would like the dps to be laid out and to be presented. The main image will be 50% and the editorial will be the other 50%. There will be no other images on the dps but the main image on the left hand side. This is so that the main image will be the main focal point of the dps, which should entice and engage the audience. The background of the main image will also follow on to the other side of the dps to give it a seamless effect.

Music Magazine DPS image ideas
On my DPS, i will have one main image. This main image will be a mid shot of the celebrity featured in the article. A mid shot will be used in order for the target audience/ readers to gain an insight into how the artist has changed from a pop princess to a more sophisticated r&b soul artist. The mid shot will also use direct address in order to entice and engage the audience and readers, as well as for them to be able to relate to the audience.
There will be no other images but the main image so that the audience can focus mainly on the artist and her change.

Music Magazine DPS Intro
"Jannelle in her mid 20s has arrived packaged unexpectedly with a new entertainment value. As, she embarks on an ambitious project with a modern take on r&b soul fusion from her old pop style."
The intro i used was a shock intro, as the audience would be shocked that this pop princess has changed her musical genre. This is because it is unexpected and out of the blue.

R&B Soul Mood Board
In r&b soul
women are presented as soft goddess like figures. Their hairstyles are also
very dramatic and eye catching to the audience such as big afros. The use of
dark, bold and bright eye catching colours such as gold, black, blue and purple
are also commonly used to grab the attention of the audience. R&B
magazines also have bold font and less coverlines/sell lines, therefore making it conform
to typical music magazines. They also usually contain an artist with a direct
mode of address or with a tilted head position which therefore engages the
audience.

School Magazine Analysis
Masthead
The masthead of this magazine is 'Angels' which is presented with a white background. The use of the white background around the masthead could connote purity, gracefulness, elegance and well kept. As, angels are often associated with these qualities. The use of the colour pink and bold font in the masthead reinforces the idea that the magazine is mainly targeted at females aged 11-16. As, the colour pink is more of a feminine colour than masculine.
Slogan
Central/Main Image
The central/main image is in the center of the magazine which therefore makes it eye catching and engages the audience. This is supported through the use of direct address as well as unserious facial expressions which will attract young females. The main image also links to the coverline 'the rubbish situation is out of control so what can you do?' as the female in the picture is seen to look like she is asking a rhetorical question to the audience. Also, the term 'rubbish' links to the rubbish from the dustbin in the background.
Price
The price of the magazine is written in white bold font just above the masthead which not only makes it visible for the audience to see but also to show that the price is an important feature of the magazine.
Issue Date
The issue date is usually written in bold font on the front cover of a typical magazine next to or below the price of the magazine. However, on this magazine the issue date is written in bold black font just
below the 'contents' on the contents page. This is used to show the target audience that the magazine is current and up to date, hence why they would want to buy it.
House Style
The house style of the magazine is purple, black, white and pink. The colours pink and purple are typical feminine colours which therefore appeals to the target audience. Whereas, the colour white is used to represent 'Angels' which is the masthead of the magazine.

Fashion Magazine Analysis
The name of the magazine I have chosen to analyse is
‘GLAMOUR’ which is a women’s magazine published by Conde Nast Publications with
a total circulation of 2,348,000. The genre of the magazine is a woman fashion
and beauty magazine which has the connotation of making women have a feel good
factor about themselves by providing basic health needs as well as getting the
latest celebrity looks.
The layout of the magazine has been set to almost imitate
the model’s curvy figure with the use of text to highlight it. The themes in
the magazine include sex, women, beauty, fashion and health which connotes the
magazine’s interest to help women’s lifestyle. The font used is capitalized and
bold in order to reinforce the brand imagine of the magazine, as well as the
colours pink, gold and white used, pink linking to the female target audience
and the colour gold linking to the title of the magazine as well as the model’s
outfit. The magazine cover contains various fonts, font sizes and colours which
suggest that there are a variety of content within the magazine. The coverlines
‘Happier! Hotter!’ In bold white font further emphasize the genre of the
magazine through the alliteration of the letter H as well as the uses of the
exclamation marks for effect. The colour scheme for the background of the
magazine seems to be a dark blue/purple colour which gradually becomes lighter and
calmer at the bottom of the magazine, this reinforces the idea that once this
magazine is read that females will become more relaxed and calmer. This could
also suggest binary opposition for the male and female consumers, as even
though the magazine is female orientated, the dark blue colour could possibly
be aiming at a male audience to purchase the magazine for females.
The title of the magazine aims to appeal to the target
audience which are women aged 18-49 with the median age of 33.5. As, it aims to
fulfill Blumler and Katz Uses and Gratification Theory of the personal identity
strand. This is by persuading the audience to be glamorous as well as to shine
and stand out. The image of the model covers the masthead which creates the
idea that the model, which is seen to be Jennifer Lopez, is as important as the
title of the magazine. The model’s outfit also further emphasizes the title of
the magazine, as she wearing a gold sparkly dress with matching heels, which
shows that she is glamorous and is standing out. The model has also been placed
in the center of the page to emphasize on her importance, as she stands out and
attracts the consumers to purchase the magazine. The model also uses serious
facial expressions as well as a direct stare which potentially engages the
audience and automatically creates a deep connection with them, as it is eye
catching. This also fulfills Laura Mulvey’s theory of the ‘male gaze,’ as it
attracts the opposite sex which further persuades them to purchase the magazine
for their girlfriends or wives in order for them to look like the model.
